LANTAW NATIVE RESTAURANT

LANTAW NATIVE RESTAURANT

They say when you’ve already become parents, the luxury of spending quality couple time tends to slow down and eventually dies down. And it’ll become so hard to remember how it felt like to be just the two of you. And I would NEVER want that to happen to Sheen and I. We may have schedule conflicts and budget constraints most of the times but we always make it to a point to spend time together even if it’s simply having lunch or dinner date, going home together, or doing groceries together. A few weeks ago, we decided to have lunch since I also had work that day. So we went to Lantaw Native Restaurant in Busay, at the top of Cebu.

Lantaw Native Restaurant is just a few minutes away from the city where you can enjoy your dining experience with a breathtaking view of Cebu. Dining al fresco at its best! Sheen and I arrived at Lantaw just in time for lunch and there were still a few customers. Hooray for photo opportunities! Upon arriving, we were asked if we had a reservation but we didn’t. But since there were just a few customers, we were immediately accommodated. A quick tip for you guys is to make a reservation ahead of time because they become fully-booked especially during dinner.

How about that scenic view!

Ginataang Monngo – P120. Sheen and I loved their Ginataang Monggo because the gata (coconut milk) was very rich in flavour but not too thick. Sheen isn’t a fan of thick sauces and the like.

Butter Fried Chicken  – P150. Actually we initially ordered their whole Lechon Manok but we were informed (a bit too late and we were becoming so hungry already!) that it wasn’t available so we ordered their butter fried chicken. I found it quite expensive for a five-piece chicken dish and the cuts were so tiny! Good thing that despite the price and tiny serving, it was delicious.

Lechon Kawali – P185. Native dining experience will not be complete without ordering lechon kawali. It’s a common Pinoy favorite and my ultimate favorite! Haha! However, I was disappointed with this one because the other cuts were undercooked and they still had this flour-y flavour. While other cuts were tough. The papaya salad on the side was too dry as well. Sad.

(L) Green Mango Shake – P80. (R) Piña Colada Shake – P80. Their fruit shakes were delicious and refreshing but I think it was quite expensive for the serving size. What do you think? Hehe.

Lantaw Native Restaurant is indeed the best place to choose for a romantic date with your boyfriend/girlfriend. It’s also perfect for family, business, and barkada gatherings. Sheen and I had a great lunch date as it has been a while since we enjoyed one. Looking forward to more dates with you dear (I know you’re reading this)! xo

BUTTERBEAN DESSERTS & CAFE

BUTTERBEAN DESSERTS & CAFE

Butterbean is commonly known for its delectable cookies and brownies so when I knew that they opened their own dessert cafe, I’ve been dying to visit ever since! What made me more excited was when I knew they had this Create-Your-Own Ice Cream Bar. However, I never had the chance to visit the cafe. Last week, while Sheen and I were strolling in Ayala Center Cebu, I reacted like a kid who has long been deprived of her favorite ice cream when I saw that Butterbean has finally opened a stall!!! I was overly excited to be honest! I didn’t have second thoughts to go and finally satisfy my ice cream fantasy!

Butterbean also offers delectable cakes and pastries. I honestly wanted to try them but I was more eager to try the ice cream! Maybe I will when I come back!

This is their array of specialty ice cream and what we got was the Blueberry Cheesecake. A single scoop of ice cream costs P75, double scoop costs P125, and triple scoop ice cream costs P195.

Now let’s get down on creating your own ice cream bar! There are four quick steps in creating your Butterbean Ice Cream:

1. Choose your ice cream bar flavor. There are four available flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, and Green Tea. I saw on the other blogs that you’re allowed to choose your ice cream bar shape but we didn’t experience that. We were only asked what flavor we wanted and poof. That was it.

2. Choose your Chocolate Coating. There are three available chocolate coatings: Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, and White Chocolate.

3. Choose your toppings. Depending on what toppings are available, you can choose up to three.

4. Choose your drizzle. The available drizzles are the same as the chocolate coating: Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, and White Chocolate.

WHAT WE ORDERED:

Mine: Regular Vanilla Ice Cream Bar, Dark Chocolate Coating, Marshmallow and Dried Mango Toppings, Milk Chocolate Drizzle – P110

Sheen’s: Regular Strawberry Ice Cream Bar, Dark Chocolate Coating, Chocolate Chip Toppings, Dark Chocolate Drizzle – P120

Both: Single Scoop Blueberry Cheesecake Specialty Ice Cream – P75
Sheen and I both loved our ice cream creations and I can’t wait to create another one! Haha! The Blueberry Cheesecake ice cream was unforgettable as well. It was the one I finished first because it was really, really delicious! We will surely be back and have another sweet treat at Butterbean! Were you able to try the Butterbean frenzy as well? Yes? Tell me your story! But if not, you better try now! xo

TREAT STREET CAFE

TREAT STREET CAFE

Last week, Sheen and I had a random Saturdate. If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you’ll notice a photo of us followed by a few photos of this new cafe in town. I am so loving my hometown already as it has become a home of pastry and dessert places! Moving on, this new dessert station called Treat Street Cafe is not like your average cafe. They’ve got unique treats that will definitely satisfy your cravings.

Treat Street Cafe offers you something you surely haven’t tried yet such as Spicy Lechon Pie(who would’ve imagined the famous lechon or roasted pig in a pie?), Treat Street Pie(their signature dessert), and Green Tea Black Sesame cake (now isn’t that interesting for people who want their cake not too sweet?). What’s even better about Treat Street Cafe is that their dessert and coffee won’t hurt your pocket!

Chocolate Walnut Pie – P70/slice. Your traditional chocolate walnut pie with a shot of bourbon. This however, was my least favorite. I’m just not a fan of walnuts, sorry. Haha!

Iced Cafe Latte – P100. Well I must say they serve great coffee as well! If you didn’t know, I am a coffee lover. But no, that doesn’t mean I drink black coffee. Lol.

5th Avenue Chocolate Cake – P105. Treat Street’s signature chocolate cake with a smooth truffle filling. I am a sucker for chocolate cakes as well! This was even the one I finished first!

Iced Cafe Mocha – P110. Tastes just like the Iced Cafe Latte but the latter tastes sweeter.

Mango Cheesecake – P95/slice. Your usual cheesecake made only with the best tasting mangoes in Cebu. This, I must say, is the best mango cheesecake I have tasted evaaaah! Haha!

Red Velvet a la Mode – P120. And this too! You’ve heard of a warm brownie cup right? A warm brownie topped with vanilla ice cream? Now this Red Velvet a la Mode is just like that. At the bottom is a really yummy red velvet cake topped with vanilla ice cream, red velvet sprinkles, and chocolate sauce. Heaven! No wonder this is their best seller.

We had a really great time at Treat Street Cafe and we will definitely be back to try their other cakes as well. Yet another FULLfilling date with the boyf! Fellow Cebuanos, you should try it there too! Bring your friends, hangout, and chitchat over their yummy cakes and coffee. *wink*

DOLCE CAFE

Dolce Cafe – The Second Time

The first time I went to this lovely cafe, I remember I said to myself, “I SHALL RETURN”. So here I am now, sharing to you guys my Dolce-is-sweeter-the-second-time-around experience. You can also read my first post about Dolce here (first post was on my Tumblr blog).

Related: BUTTERBEAN DESSERTS & CAFE

Dolce Cafe is way up Panorama Heights, Nivel Hills, Lahug, Cebu City. Judging by its exteriors and interiors, you may say that this cafe is posh but hey, they offer very affordable guilty pleasures! And of course, who wouldn’t be in love when you can choose to indulge your dessert al fresco? Right? Right?

Red Velvet Cheesecake (Slice) – P115.

I loved the moist and full texture of their red velvet cheesecake. One reason to go back for a third time!

Related: CLASSIC DUO

L-R: Outrageous Oreo – P145, Java Chip – P140.

Just your ordinary non-coffee drinks. Nothing really special unfortunately.

Smores Cake (Individual Serving) – P125.

As beautiful as it looks, this cake definitely caught my taste buds!

Chocolate Black Out (Individual Serving) – P125.

The winner of them all! This was the superstar of the day because first, it was a dark chocolate layer cake. And lastly, each layer was so good and the texture was consistent from the top layer up to the bottom.
It was definitely sweeter the second time around for me. Thanks to my foodie partner slash boyfriend for a fun and FULLfilling experience. Surely there would be a third time. ‘Til next time Dolce!

LUNCH AT TOKYO TABLE

TOKYO TABLE

Yesterday, we had a team lunch out (yay!) and it was unanimously decided that we try Japanese food this time. I, myself is an avid fan of Asian cuisine and this new food adventure definitely thrilled me!

Tokyo Table is one of the many known Japanese restaurants here in Cebu that offers a good buffet dining experience in an honestly stylish environment with a serene ambiance.

Upon entering, a huge wood or bamboo (?) artwork would catch your attention together with this cute figurine. But of course, we were warmly greeted as we entered the restaurant and their waitresses were actually very welcoming and helpful when we were trying to set the tables good for 25 people. Good and professional customer service, check! Now let’s get down to the food.

As the restaurant itself is very spacious, the buffet spread was really huge. One side were all the raw meat such as beef, pork, chicken, ham, and more that are available for grilling. The other side was for the other Asian dishes such as Vegetable Dumplings, Nido Soup, Lemongrass Chicken, Milk Fried Chicken, Bangus Belly Steak, Chicken Mushroom, and a lot more. Then there’s a corner where you can create your own salad and another corner for dimsum dishes. Makis and sashimis in different varieties are in the Japanese section. And gosh, of course I could not miss their dessert section where they serve ice cream and do-it-yourself halo-halo! Lastly, there’s a separate section where you can get yourself unlimited fill of lemonades, iced tea, and sodas. Oh how I love dining in buffet restaurants!

This is my do-it-yourself green salad. I’m not a really sucker for salads so here I just stuck with the simple and basic salad — green lettuce, hard boiled eggs, toasted bread, and Thousand Island dressing.

I actually enjoyed the grilling session and congratulations to us the meat weren’t burnt! Haha!

Korean Beef Barbecue. This is my favorite among all the dishes I have tried. Will not miss this out if I ever go back for the second time.

On my plate are the following: Korean Beef Barbecue, Tempura, California Maki, Siomai, Philadelpia Roll, Milk Fried Chicken, and Twic Cooked Pork in Miso Sauce.

Strawberry Ice Cream! I really enjoyed this as I loved how I can feel the strawberry bits. Strawberry lover here!

Wow! It was truly a FULLfilling food adventure and of course looking forward to the next! Hope you enjoyed reading this photo-heavy post! Haha! ‘Til the next food adventure!

LUNCH OUT AT THE YAKI HOUSE

THE YAKI HOUSE

Finally! A food post! I honestly missed blogging about it and I was so glad when we had a team lunch out (it’s been a while!) two weeks ago The Yaki House. As you may already know, the word “yaki” means grilled or cooked over direct heat in Japanese. I love grilled food so much so you must know how excited I was that day! Read on as I share my Yaki experience and I hope you enjoy this post! *wink*

Upon arriving on the place, I was honestly surprised how small the place was that I said in silence, “Ahh mao diay ni siya.” (Ahh so this is it.) But when we went inside, I found the place cute especially with their almost-Japanese setup. Because I was expecting to dine like the Japanese where they have low tables and sit comfortably with legs crossed, but it wasn’t setup like that. The tables were actually high and our feet were under the table.

And because The Yaki House was all about grilling, of course, charcoal grills are on each table. Each of us had a budget of The Yaki House’s EAT ALL YOU CAN. Yes, eat as your tummy desires! For lunch, their eat-all-you-can rate is P359 while dinner is at P399. Here’s their eat-all-you-can menu:- Raw Imported Beef- Raw Pork Belly- Raw Pork Liver- Raw Chicken Fillet- Raw Fish- Scallops- Raw Squid- Raw Chorizo- Plain/Fried Rice- Kimchi- Vegetable/Chicken/Fish Tempura- Soup- 1 round of Soft Ice Cream

We actually ordered everything on their eat-all-you-can menu and wow we had a feast! I had two cups of rice with unknown number of meat strips! LOL. I loved the beef so much and their chicken was so tender. I haven’t remembered if I was able to eat the others on the menu because I was too busy watching my friends grill while I was waiting for some to be cooked and have it on my plate. Haha! But I do remember their baked scallops and calamares (squid) which were both yummy.

Overall, I loved my Yaki experience and I am definitely coming back. Their rates are so budget-friendly and you get more than what you paid for (especially if you’re a heavy eater like me!). The service was quite slow but I just thought maybe it was their first time to have a lot of customers (we were 30 in the team plus the other customers before us) who were all asking for our orders at the same time. Na-stress sila Ate at Kuya! Haha. The Yaki House is perfect when you’re looking for a great and gastronomically satisfying food adventure with your family, friends, and colleagues so I recommend you try it if you still haven’t!
